Meeting Happenings

Diane was going to fine Tom Coots, Sr. for his photo being in the paper for the Vietnam Wall Ceremony, but decided Tom was once again performing a great community service. Speaking of the Vietnam Wall Celebration, our very own Judy Lonergan appeared on television. Seems like Judy saw a woman and girl kneeling at a name on the wall and placing something near it. Judy, in her eagerness to discover more about As Judy was looking to catch sight of what was there, a television reporter began asking her questions. The story was a lot more involved and, of course, in typical Judy fashion, went on and on and on. It could only happen to Judy! And speaking of the Vietnam Memorial Ceremony, Lester's role was acknowledged. Many Rotarians commented on Lester's very moving speech at the event. Both Tom and Lester also spoke about the maturity of the Everett High School students who assisted that day.

We received news from Steve Chiavelli that he is resigning from Everett Rotary. We thank Steve for his many years of service to Rotary and hope that he will be able to visit us often.

Special thanks to Diane, Judy, and Judy's son Jay for volunteering this week at St. Pauls. If you are interested in volunteering, please call Judy Lonergan.

Lester inducted Tom Coots, Jr. into the Club at today's meeting. The son of Rev. Tom Coots, Tom Jr. is branch officer at Charlestown Cooperative Bank and resides in Revere with his wife and three children. Welcome Tom.

CONGRATULATIONS to Mrs. Mekredes for receiving the Golden Apple Award for being an outstanding Educator. The award was given to her by the Everett School Committee and Superintendent. Well deserved!

Thank you to the Culinary teachers and students for an exceptional meal today. The buffet included Greek specialties and a dessert that everyone raved about. It wasn't low carb, but it was well worth it. Once again....a great job.
