A BRIEF HISTORY OF
THE ROTARY CLUB OF EVERETT

On May 1, 1921, the Rotary Club of Everett was chartered and the city had its first service club.  Twenty-five men, leaders in the community, embraced the concept of service for the benefit of the community, and it is this foundation that the Everett Rotary Club bases its mission and actions today.  The Everett Rotary Club is a member of Rotary International and utilizes the Rotary Code of Ethics to guide all members in their professional and personal lives.

Historically, Everett Rotary provided milk for school children, established a shoe and stocking fund to assist those in need, assisted disabled children, Boy Scouts and youth camps as well as provided food baskets to those in the community in need.  Everett Rotary Club also supported the Whidden Memorial Hospital in the purchasing of several capital items and scholarships for the School of Nursing when it existed.  Everett Rotarians cheerfully donated the first pints of blood for the new blood bank.

Today, Everett Rotary Club is a vibrant service club comprised of business and professional members of the community.  “Service above Self” guides the club in all it does.  Scholarships for high school students and other student support activities are a cornerstone of the club.  Everett Rotary contributes to the Rotary Foundation, which offers scholarships and fellowships to qualified men and women for one year of study in other countries.

Everett Rotary provides assistance in many ways – food baskets and holiday gifts to needy Everett families, assistance in food preparation for homeless families, houseware drives for families in transitional housing, health clinics focusing on safety and wellness, and any other service to the community.  Everett Rotarians give unselfishly of their time, energy, and dollars in order to better the community of Everett.
